WE INTRODUCE YOU THE UNIQUE BOOK ABOUT THE MONUMENT OF THE ARCHITECTURE XVII.
Last Friday, 12 April the Shchusev Museum of Architecture presented a new book "The Monument of History and Architecture of the 16th-20th centuries. The Church of the Saints Kosma and Damian in the Old Panah», written by the architectural bureau ABD architects.
This publication is an attempt to present the image of the monument: its history, research, design and restoration processes. It included photographs of the state of the monument before the restoration, fragments of maps of old Moscow. A large amount of graphics of full-scale studies and restoration drawings, made by architects ABD architects in the 90s, is represented.
Boris Levyant, the general director of ABD architects, said that at the very beginning the office of the bureau was opposite the church, and therefore, he and his colleagues could not look indifferently at this building and decided to "find out what it was". Later, it became known that this is a former church, whose history dates back to the beginning of the 17th century. When there was a real opportunity to take part in the fate of the monument, it was absolutely impossible to remain indifferent. All worries related to full-scale and archival research, development of the restoration project, the architectural bureau took upon itself.
However, the main speaker of the evening was the architect-restorer, who joined ABD architects just on the basis of the restoration work, Valery Pavlov - he led all the archaeological, historical and architectural research, sought, argued and often explained the importance of this monument. He briefly talked about the history of the monument, the nature and extent of the field and archival works carried out, and the difficulties that accompanied these works.
The book was published in a limited edition of 500 copies. For sales, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
